Re: Making a hard edge to a circular or tubular import reference

Hey, Sorry for the delay. We were out of town for SolidWorks World last week so things have been busy. For the constraint connections, we go tangent by default. If you select the ring of faces on the SubD that connects to the circular shape, a tool called "Override Tangency" will become available in the constraint drop down menu. That will allow you to control how the connection is made. Choosing "nothing" will do a direct connection and not be tangent. In your case, you may want to add...

Making a hard edge to a circular or tubular import reference

kboucher ·
Hi guys, newbie to the software and I'm working on my first part.  I'm trying design a wheel arch and I'm having difficulty with the import reference constraint.  In the tutorial videos, it seems rather simple to turn the edge of the part into a hard edge, but this doesn't seem to be the case with circular or tubular forms.  The sub-d surface always wants to go tangent to the tube or circle.  Any workarounds for this or is there something I'm missing? Thanks
